This week, we focused on advertising our upcoming workshops and our career fair. Being one of the design team members, I have first-hand experience with creating new and intriguing designs and flyers in order to increase the amount of attendees at our workshops. On Monday, my fellow group members and I finished our “Women’s Self Defense” workshop flyer that will be hung in the classrooms and hallways at our school and on social media. In addition to our upcoming “Women’s Self Defense” workshop, our group hosted Culver City High School's first annual career fair. It was available to all grade levels and intended to prepare them for future career pathways. We had a wide selection of career options: jobs in retail, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and all branches of the military. Students had the opportunity to bring their resumes for the employers we had at the fair and sign up for our future workshops, such as “Women’s Self-Defense”, “The Power of Body Language”, and “Interview Skills”. Overall, the career fair had a very successful turn out, and our club was able to receive a large number of sign-ups for upcoming workshops that will teach them valuable life skills that can be useful in the future.
