Our Girls Build team held a luncheon with local businesswomen and entrepreneurs who shared their experiences in their fields and advice they had for our team. The experience was helpful for girls pursuing higher education and career paths in the future.
Culver City's Women in Business Award Luncheon
October 18, 2018
Co-Presidents, Lylah Rodriguez and Claribel Alcantar, were invited to join Culver City in its annual Award Luncheon for Women in Business . They were accompanied by the President of the Entrepreneurship Club at our school, Jade Ravore. Here the two ladies were able to further expand their connections to recruit future workshop hosts. Rodriguez and Alcantar really admired the women being honored and greatly appreciated this opportunity.
Career Fair
April 11, 2019
We invited over 40 businesses, employers, and non-profit organizations to participate in the first annual Culver City High School Career Fair to expose students to possible career paths and job opportunities in the community. Many students brought a resume with them and had time to introduce themselves to the 12 employers present, including Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks. Some students even used skills from our Resume Workshop to create their resumes. We impacted the entire school population with this hour-long lunchtime event.

Our Girls Build member, Claribel Alcantar, helped organize this CPR Event and had girls volunteer at the event where we helped teach people in our community hands only CPR and how to use an AED. Over 200 people attended this event.
